The Korean jewelry label built on the Cretan labyrinth debuts in North America at Seoul Contemporary's New York pop-up on October 16, 2026
Seoul Contemporary, the New York–based retail platform for Asian contemporary designer brands, today announced a U.S. launch partnership with SENSE OPTIC, a Korean jewelry brand based in Seoul. SENSE OPTIC makes its North American debut at Seoul Contemporary's New York pop-up on October 16, 2026, and is stocked the same season on the platform's curated online store at seoulcontemporary.com.
SENSE OPTIC builds its jewelry from one idea: the labyrinth of Crete. Spiral lines modeled on the maze's corridors wind around fingers, wrists, and ears, and the surfaces carry an intaglio texture taken from cave walls and stone. The Korean brand works in sterling silver 925 and 14K gold plating with quartz, and designs sizes and wearing positions without assuming a gender. It has run seasonal collections since fall/winter 2020 and sells through the Korean platforms W Concept and Amondz.
The first North American assortment comprises 8 styles across 4 categories. It includes the LABYRINTH RING and LABYRINTH BRACELET, which carry the maze motif most directly; the CRETE RING, named for the island itself; the SPIRITUS RING, SPIRITUS EAR CUFF, and SPIRITUS BODY ORNAMENT, where the spiral wraps the ear and the body; and the TINY GROTTO LAYERED NECKLACE and WAVY GROTTO RING, which shrink the cave texture to a wearable scale. Six styles are silver and two are 14K gold.
Under the partnership, Seoul Contemporary handles U.S. customs clearance, inventory, fulfillment, shipping, and returns, and produces the brand's American-market content in New York, including a lookbook campaign shot with local models. SENSE OPTIC reaches U.S. customers without a U.S. entity or local staff.
The structure addresses a documented gap. According to a 2025 report from Insight Korea and Tin News, fashion is the top spending category among U.S. consumers of Korean content, and the largest barrier to purchase is access: roughly one in three interested consumers cannot find a trusted place to buy.
"The first thing an American shopper asks about a piece of jewelry is what it means, and SENSE OPTIC answers that with a myth." said Zia Oh, co-founder and brand director of Seoul Contemporary. "One form — the labyrinth — produced 8 styles, from a ring to a body ornament. The shape reads before the explanation does."
"A labyrinth is not a structure for getting lost; it is one line that runs all the way through." said Boyeon Jung, founder of SENSE OPTIC. "What that line looks like on a body has been this brand's question from the start. New York is where I want to ask it again."
SENSE OPTIC is shown offline for the first time at Seoul Contemporary's New York pop-up on October 16, 2026, and is stocked on the Seoul Contemporary online store at seoulcontemporary.com the same season. U.S. customers can buy SENSE OPTIC products at seoulcontemporary.com. The pop-up venue and U.S. pricing will be announced separately.
